Dobutsu Shogi is a simplified version of Shogi that is a great introduction to the game. #Quick_to_play #Abstract_Strategy #Easy_to_Learn #2_Player
Pieces Required:
12 Tiles
8 Piece Bases
7 White Checker Pieces
7 Black Checker Pieces
2 King Heads
2 Rook Heads
2 Bishop Heads
2 Queen Heads
Starting Layout:

Rules:
Movement:
The pawn moves and captures one space forwards.
Pawns that reach the final rank are promoted to queens.
The rook moves and captures one space orthogonally it is recommended that you keep the rook short to remind you that it can only move one space.
The bishop move and captures one space diagonally it is recommended that you also keep the bishop short to remind you that it can only move one space as well.
The king can move one space in any direction.
The queen can move one space in any direction except diagonally backwards. Again keep the queen short to be reminded of the different movement.
You may switch out the checker piece in a captured unit so that it is now of your color. This is your piece now! You may then drop this piece on any tile on the board instead of moving. Captured queens get demoted back to pawns when this happens.
Ending the Game:
The object of the game is to either capture the enemy king or to move your king to the opposite side of the board. If the same position is reached three times in a row, then the game ends in a draw.
